Ubuntu approaches the body as a carrier of identity and memory. Inspired by the concept of Ubuntu, “I am what I am because of who we all are,” the work explores how our individualities are constructed within the collective.
Created for The Brooklyn Artist Exhibition at The Brooklyn Museum in New York, it brings together fragments of skin from individuals of diverse origins.
Responding to each other visually, these fragments compose a living mosaic in which each presence maintains its uniqueness while participating in a common surface: that of a plural identity.
Ubuntu aborde le corps comme porteur d’identité et de mémoire. Inspirée du concept d’Ubuntu ; « Je suis ce que je suis grâce à ce que nous sommes tous » l’œuvre explore la façon dont nos singularités se construisent dans le collectif.
Créée pour The Brooklyn Artist Exhibition, The Brooklyn Museum, New York, elle rassemble des fragments de peau d’individus d’origines diverses.
En se répondant visuellement, ces fragments composent une mosaïque vivante où chaque présence maintient son unicité tout en participant à une surface commune : celle d’une identité plurielle.
